ellery vs. sweet potato

 on may 4th, ellery's world was changed forever. it was the day she met the sweet potato. at first, she was intrigued. then, as she got a closer look (and taste) she wasn't too sure about this new guy, mr. sweet potato. she decided to do a little more research, this time seeing how it felt. very squishy. especially when smeared all over your face :)

all in all, we had a lot of fun with ellery's first taste of solid food! she was a bit confused about what in the world she was tasting and what she was supposed to do with it. but, to our surprise, she did a pretty good job figuring out that she was supposed to swallow it. just a couple times she pushed it out of her mouth. you go girl. and quickly we learned that i made the puree a bit too thick. and (as you'll see in the video below), i learned when ellery is done, she is done. no mom, i do not want your finger covered in sweet potato - get it outta here! :)

so proud of our growing sweet girl. she is going from infant to big baby (and i mean that in a good way - big girl just sounds way too old at this point!)

soon after, she was ready to take a snooze with her full belly!

and by the way, the story of ellery & mr. sweet potato doesn't end here. spoiler alert, but e does learn to love her new friend, and now gobbles him right up!! :)
