though we weren't able to celebrate with family, we still had a wonderful easter this year - ellery's very first! we showed her our tradition of making easter baskets for each other, and then hiding & hunting for them on sunday morning before church. ellery got all dolled up in her easter dress from mawmaw, complete with a cute little hat :)
after church, we headed to jonathan & katie's to celebrate the day with friends. katie and i even planned an adult easter egg hunt - complete with fruity pebble filled eggs. everyone found their eggs, and then we smashed them on each other to find who had the winning egg, which was filled with sprinkles instead of cereal. (ellery slept through the entire thing - she'll be ready for egg-hunting action next year!). then we ate lots and lots and lots of delicious food (sadly, ellery had to miss out on that as well. next year, baby girl!). though we would have loved to be with family, being with such great friends made the day special. God has blessed us beyond our expectations of surrounding us with loving people being so far from family, which we are so grateful for.
